NOT Your Average Summer School Youth Workshop Series!!

I’m excited to share the news about Rated Ransom’s youth writing workshop series beginning next month — sponsored in part by Vista Health Systems and Waukegan Housing Authority.

This has been a long-awaited goal and vision of mine. Recalling my own struggles with writing and public speaking when I was younger, I felt that NOW was the best time to present Not Your Average Summer School Youth Writing Workshop Series.

With COVID-19 changing the landscape of learning, I created this series for youth to dive deeper into their writing and social development skills, all while having fun, being creative, seeking adventure, challenging themselves, and being inspired by the works of music and entertainment artists.

Not Your Average Summer School is considered an escape and social acknowledgement for artistic youth, celebrating, empowering, and developing their gifts; teaching them how to share it with others while impacting the community—all through writing and public speaking/platforms.

Sneak peek into session topics ::

Your Voice Matters — Intro session to learning key points and resources in developing writing

Not Conceited — Owning your art. Believing in your skills. Learning how to showcase and share it.

I Know You See Me — Importance of positive personal brand image and maintaining it, even when no one is watching… because someone is!

I Am Who I Am — Show what you created. Also, a showcase of art(s) and history by local and celebrity music and entertainment artists.

This series is not the traditional way of learning, and will allow youth to engage at their own pace. However, I still plan to check in and ask for the final creations of what they learned and want to share with you here at!

Like I said before, Covid-19 may have changed the landscape of learning, but it didn’t stop the creativity in learning.

Not Your Average Summer School begins August 26th and is for students ages 12-18.

Registration opens July 28th on Eventbrite!!

Hope to see the kids there!

Thanks for your support.
