Rated Ransom’s first Monday Music of 2020 is one that I’m very excited to share.
New hit film The Photograph, starring Issa Rae (Insecure) and LaKeith Stanfield (Atlanta) was a beautiful, pure, and memorable way to celebrate Valentines Day this year. It was an ode to black love; infused with realities of history, restoration, symbolism, independence, dreams, and endless love. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

To top it off, this film was accompanied by amazing music . One of my favorite musicians — whom I consider to be an extraordinaire, Robert Glasper, created a sensual New York Jazz ambiance to this entire score. (perfect for the film’s location setting).
If you’re a jazz fan like l am, you’ll understand it when I say that all I was missing was a cigar and aged merlot to top it off …but our Cabernet Sauvignon did us just fine. Lol!
So soothing. So smooth.
Throughout the film, you’ll also recognize other top-chart independent and mainstream artists such as H.E.R., Anderson Paak, Lucky Daye, Mos Def, The Internet, Rufus + Chaka Khan, Al Green, and Patti LaBelle, with a few other soulful divas, crooners, and throwbacks.
Listening to this type of music while watching a realistic, natural, and beautiful love story develop was a breath of fresh air.
Enjoy.
Happy New Year!!
